We will not accept into discussions with a banned TTP: Bilawal.

PESHAWAR – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), stated on Tuesday, alluding to discussions with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), that the administration cannot engage with terrorists on its own without the trust of the parliament.

On Tuesday, he told a public assembly in Peshawar that the government was covertly having discussions with the terrorists implicated in the APS tragedy. “We will not enter into conversations with a prohibited organisation.”

The PPP chairman stated that the discussions do not take place in the dead of night, and that the parliament must be trusted. Terrorists implicated in severe crimes should be brought before the courts and punished, he added.

Bilawal went on to remark that the heroic people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa battled valiantly against terrorism, adding that although the rest of the world failed in Afghanistan, our police, army, and FC worked together to fight terrorists.

Earlier today, in a statement commemorating the PPP’s 54th anniversary, he stated that only the PPP can pave the path for democracy in Pakistan after a long battle and great sacrifices. Only the PPP’s programme and strategy can transform Pakistan, home to 220 million people, into a truly democratic and welfare state.

The PPP president went on to say that the PPP is a revolutionary movement founded on Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s ideology, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s philosophy, and the efforts and sacrifices of many generations.

Bilawal stated that the PPP had given the country and the nation a rich strategic gift, including the country’s first unified constitution, nuclear programme guaranteeing invincible defence and missile technology, provincial sovereignty, and agrarian and economic reforms, even in the face of the most difficult circumstances. Other notable achievements of the PPP include making Pakistan the political centre of the Islamic world through the organisation of the Islamic Summit and the Pak-China relationship through the CPEC project.

“Today, I honour all the jiyalas who have given their lives for the sake of democracy, who have experienced the sufferings of jail, deportation, and undemocratic forces, as well as sponsored media trials,” said Chairman PPP.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that party leaders and members have the unshakeable courage and commitment to complete the unfinished goal of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. They are the ones who are giving their battle fresh vitality.

“Today, we reiterate our pledge to continue working for people’s rights, women’s liberation, minorities’ inclusion in the national mainstream, the development of democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the well-being of the people of our nation,” Chairman PPP vowed.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari went on to say that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s leadership and the jiyalas’ arduous work will soon produce fruit. He claimed that the country’s ambition of eradicating all forms of prejudice and constructing an equal society was about to become a reality.

He highlighted that the time has come for true democracy to be created in Pakistan and for selected dictators to be deposed.
