SLAMABAD, Pakistan — Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has asked the relevant agencies to develop a strategy in collaboration with the provincial governments to take all necessary actions to clean up major cities.

He remarked, while chairing a conference in Islamabad on pollution-related concerns in the country, that a long-term environmental protection strategy is needed to combat pollution, particularly in large cities.

The prime minister stated that we are committed to increasing the green cover of our cities through enormous planting.

According to him, in accordance with our manifesto, a clean and pollution-free Pakistan is our top goal, and long-term actions should be made to address climate change-related challenges.

Schools in the province capital, on the other hand, will stay closed for three days each week from November 27 to January 15, despite the city being covered in hazardous smog, which experts believe is putting citizens at danger.

The Punjab government declared three weekly vacations in government and private schools in Lahore.

The letter stated that schools and workplaces will be closed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

The limitation would be in effect from November 27 to January 15, according to the notification. Three days a week, private offices in the provincial capital would also be closed.
