KARACHI, Pakistan — Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the first phase of the long-awaited Green Line Bus project in Karachi on Friday.
The project, which cost 35.5 billion rupees to finish, is a significant present from the federal government to the people of Sindh, particularly Karachi citizens.
The Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System project would provide contemporary transit services to 135 thousand people every day in Karachi’s western and central districts, making access to the city’s Central Business District simple and safe.
This service would consist of 80 hybrid buses, with fares ranging from Rs15 to Rs55. Passengers can purchase tickets using a smartphone application, as well as debit and credit cards.
The Green Line Bus service will be available for a limited time till December 25. Between Surjani Town and Numaish Chowrangi, this project links 22 stations.
On the request of Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, the project was implemented by the Ministry of Planning and Development through Sindh Infrastructure Development Company.
