For Islamabad, AJK, and Gilgit Baltistan, the Prime Minister has launched the Sehat Card initiative.

Prime Minister Imran Khan introduced the Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card programme in Islamabad on Wednesday.

All households in Islamabad, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and Tharparkar would be eligible for free medical treatment at government and private facilities under the plan.

Every family would be allowed to use healthcare facilities worth up to one million rupees each year using the card.

The premier, speaking at the occasion, stated that individuals who stole the country’s money are receiving medical care overseas. He went on to say that the entire family is in London for treatment.

According to the Prime Minister, under the Sehat Card, every family would be able to get healthcare worth up to one million rupees per year. He said that Pakistan is the only country in the world to implement such a unique and ambitious initiative to provide free health care to its population.

Poverty-stricken individuals, according to Imran Khan, have difficulties in receiving medical treatment owing to a lack of funds.

People face economic hardships as a result of health difficulties, and our goal with this programme is to at least alleviate their financial hardships when they become ill, he continued.

The premier also stated that Rs450 billion was spent on health insurance, emphasising the importance of having the bravery and will to take such initiatives.

He stated that when people own their country, the country achieves the goal of national security, but how would people think of the nation and national interest if they were denied of their fundamental needs?

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar informed on the initiative, stating that it will be implemented in all 36 districts of the state by the end of March this year. According to him, the Punjab government is investing 400 billion rupees in the plan.

He said the province is building 23 new hospitals, including eight mother and child facilities, and upgrading 158 others.

We intend to make Punjab a model province in the health sector, according to the CM.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Services, stated the Sehat Sahulat Card is a step toward a welfare state while speaking at the occasion.

He stated that this facility is now just for in-patients, but that it would be expanded to include outside patients in the future.
