LAHORE ( A News) In response to escalating terrorism threats, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) launched operations in several Punjab cities, detaining 49 terrorists, including an operative from India’s intelligence agency.
According to authorities, many intelligence-based actions were carried out throughout the last week. During these operations, an Indian intelligence service “RAW” operative named Mujtaba was detained in Lahore. Explosive devices, guns, and maps of significant government and sensitive structures were discovered on the captured spy.
According to authorities, explosives and supplies for making suicide vests were also recovered from the accused. Initial investigations indicated that the terrorists planned strikes in many areas to instill fear and panic among the populace.
CTD authorities also revealed that 6,131 combing operations were carried out across the province during the last month. As a consequence, 599 suspects were arrested, while 243,546 others were questioned.
According to CTD, the operations took place in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Faisalabad. In light of possible terrorism concerns, the CTD has decided to increase intelligence-based operations throughout Punjab.
