FRANKFURT – The next round of G7 sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, according to Germany’s finance minister, should target oligarchs who have gotten wealthy under President Vladimir Putin.
Christian Lindner told German television station ARD, “We’re working on more sanctions.” “Going after the oligarchs makes me extremely nervous.”
The G7 countries said on Friday that they are preparing a fresh round of “strong measures” against Russia, pushing Moscow to stop its actions near nuclear power plants.
Germany is presently holding the G7 rotating presidency.
