PlayStation and Nintendo have halted shipments to Russia, the Japanese gaming titans said on Thursday, as worldwide companies continue to pull out of the country in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement, Sony Group, which owns PlayStation, said its video game division “joins the worldwide community in advocating for peace in Ukraine.”
“All software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7, and PlayStation Store activities in Russia have been halted,” it claimed.
The tech and entertainment company also announced a $2 million donation to the United Nations’ refugee agency and Save the Children “to help the victims of this catastrophe.”
Following Russia’s invasion of its neighbour, an increasing number of international corporations, ranging from McDonald’s to Adidas and Samsung, have completely or partially ceased operations in the country.
