While meeting with a delegation from the Media Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Saturday, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Federal Minister of Information, agreed to enact legislation to combat fake news.

The meeting decided that legislation would be enacted in accordance with PEMRA law, and that a provision to combat fake news would be included in the PEMRA law.

While lashing out at the previous government, she claimed that, in addition to the economic disaster, the previous government had gone to great lengths to ban the media.
