In a statement on Saturday, a representative of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that the body has not received any directives to reactivate social media.

Although the PTA spokeswoman indicated that instructions to restart social media networks had not yet been issued, she did confirm that mobile internet connections had been restored nationally.

Earlier, on May 9, the government banned the use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube countrywide and placed limitations on mobile internet access.
