ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, a local court issued a formal order designating PTI leader Shehbaz Gill as an evading witness in a sedition case.

Regarding the hearing from the previous day, District and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sapra delivered a two-page written ruling. The accused submitted an application to obtain authorization for an appearance via video connection, the court said, but continued to elude summons despite them.

According to the court ruling, Shehbaz Gill, the defense attorney, was sick and unable to fly back. Furthermore, it said that the accused’s physical attendance was required before the action to declare the defendant an absconder could be suspended.

It said that the accused had disobeyed the Lahore High Court (LHC) ruling, which had granted him permission to travel overseas for a brief time.

Regarding the process used to formally declare the accused an offender, the police had submitted a report. It had posted signs outside the accused’s home and the courtroom.

The accused was not purposefully presenting before the court, according to the order. The accused was given a declaration of absconder by the court, and non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for him.

It said that the accused’s CNIC had also been banned in accordance with the Nadra findings. It stated that the deputy commissioners of Faisalabad and Islamabad will provide their findings on the accused’s property by July 31.
