Station House Officer (SHO) Gulberg has been suspended by Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Usman Akram Gondal. The charges were made during a news conference at the Faisalabad news Club, where they were made by Madam Saima Kanwal.
She runs a respected ladies’ hostel in the region where SHO Raja Ehsan and male constables carried out an unauthorized, unwarranted raid on the night of July 23.
Kanwal said that the SHO had harassed and mistreated the hostel’s female inmates. Since there were no female constables present during the raid, questions regarding the police team’s behavior have grown.
According to reports, the police detained several of the girls and forcibly put them into a police vehicle without following the correct legal procedures. The arrested females, according to Kanwal, were held against their will and only freed after being forced to sign simple papers and subjected to videotaping.
These accusations have been taken seriously by CPO Gondal, who has mandated that the SHO be suspended immediately while the situation is thoroughly investigated. The police force has told the populace that it would not stand for any misbehavior or misuse of authority on the part of its personnel.
