Pakistani universities give more than Rs. 500 million to help Turkey recover from the earthquake.

ISLAMABAD (APP) : Pakistani universities have pledged Rs. 500 million to help Turkey after the earthquake there.

Under the direction of Private Sector Universities Pakistan, a high-level delegation of 34 people from 18 universities in Pakistan took part in the Eurasian Higher Education Summit in Istanbul (APSUP).

The universities promised more than $500 million to help the areas of Turkey that were hit by the earthquake. This money would be used for aid, repairs, and scholarships for students from those areas.

During the summit, the Pakistani Pavilion was set up, and Prof. Dr. Abdul Rehman and Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman, both from Superior University, gave Elif Aydin, Vice Chairman of the board of Anatolian Education and Cultural Foundation Turkiye, a check for 400,000 Turkish lira.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydin, who is the President of the Eurasian Universities Union, thanked APSUP and the Pakistani people for continuing to help the Turkish people, especially during hard times.

Several universities in Pakistan helped the people of Turkey who were hurt by the earthquake.

The University of Lahore gave $1 million in the form of 150 tonnes of food, blankets, medicines, and tents that are fireproof and waterproof.

The University of Faisalabad gave $110,000 to help the community, and a team of 20 people from the University of Faisalabad worked to rebuild the areas that were damaged.

The University of Sialkot and the International Institute of Science, Arts, and Technology Gujranwala are giving 10 million Pakistani rupees in scholarships to Turkish students who lost their homes in the earthquake.

Under the University of Management and Technology Lahore Scholarship Program for Turkey, one million dollars will be given out in scholarships. Students from the affected areas will be given priority.

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhary, who was also a part of the Pakistani delegation, was the Coordinator General of COMSTECH. He worked with APSUP and member universities of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence to offer fully funded scholarships and research fellowships to Turkish citizens who were badly hurt by the earthquake.

The APSUP universities are still committed to helping the people of Turkey who were hurt by the earthquake in any way they can.
