ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in all instances on Friday, preventing police from detaining him until May 17.
The verdict was made by a division bench comprised of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, and is anticipated to calm the country’s tensions that flared after the detention of the former premier.
Earlier, following a brief pause for Friday prayers, the court granted Mr Khan bail for two weeks in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The session, which began around two hours late, was postponed minutes after the former premier was led into the courthouse under heavy security. The National Accountability Bureau and others have received notifications from the court.
Outside the court, a big number of PTI attorneys and leaders are gathered, while Islamabad police and Rangers have tightened security to avert any untoward incidents.
