FORTABBAS / BAHAWALPUR: During the prize-distribution ceremony outside Derawar Fort on Sunday, almost all of the drivers participating in the 17th Cholistan Jeep Rally protested the lack of chairs due to poor seating arrangements.

The ceremony was attended by Divisional Commissioner retired Captain Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt Gen Khalid Zia, and Punjab Secretary for Tourism Asad Faiz.

According to accounts, the drivers who participated in the vehicle rally, including Mahmood Majid Chaudhry and Zain Mehmood Chaudhry of Bahawalpur’s 4×4 racing club, staged a sit-in when they couldn’t find chairs to sit on. On the ground, they staged a sit-in.

Protesters said that the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) did not provide adequate seats. The demonstrators protested that the ‘VIPs’ were given seats while those who took part in the march were not given chairs.
Mehmood Majeed, one of the attendees, stated that no seats were provided and that they were forced to sit on the ground. However, the demonstrators subsequently attended the award giving ceremony.

Meanwhile, Sultan Bahadar Aziz, Bismillah Magsi, and Rashid Goraya finished first, second, and third in the category B race, respectively.
