Ishaq Dar, the federal finance minister, and Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister, met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), on Sunday to make a request that the PDM refrain from staging a demonstration in front of the Supreme Court.

The conference was held in the middle of Pakistan’s ongoing political upheaval and the PDM’s anticipated demonstration in front of the Supreme Court. Maulana Fazlur Rehman was persuaded to change the protest place and conduct it in D-chowk by Ishaq Dar and Rana Sanaullah.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, however, declined the request, claiming that the PDM had already made the protest known and that the people’s court should now be the one to make the judgement.
