The Islamabad High Court (IHC) deferred its decision on a petition challenging the detention of PTI leader and former federal minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussian on Tuesday.

At the start of the hearing, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb ordered Fawad to appear in court. Faisal Chaudhry, Fawad’s lawyer, informed the court that his client was present in an armoured vehicle. The PTI leader was then brought before the court.

Continuing the hearing, the court stated that the Chief Justice issued an order that neither the IG Islamabad nor anybody else obeyed. “When you caught him,” was the order displayed at the time. There were various options for confirming the order. The 9th of May was not a joyous day, thus the fears were justified.”

The court requested an undertaking from the petitioners that they would not breach Article 144 or the legislation, or else there will be contempt of court proceedings against the lawmakers, who may also be disqualified. The judge stated that the court was allowing the District Magistrate and the IGP time to investigate the situation.
