LAHORE – Prior to Imran Khan’s hearing before the Lahore High Court (LHC), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) formed a four-person squad on Monday to arrest him, according to reports.
The LHC previously rejected Mr. Khan’s request for protective bail when he failed to attend, claiming a leg ailment that prevented him from travelling according to his physicians. The former prime minister opted to show up in court later despite reports of his detention.
Sarfraz Khan Virk, director of the Lahore Division, would direct the FIA team to arrest Mr. Khan and deliver him to the Islamabad squad. According to sources, it was originally planned to detain Mr. Khan at his home in Zaman Park, but after seeing how the party workers reacted, it was decided to reconsider. Once Mr. Khan comes before the LHC, insiders said, “he will be arrested.”
To ensure a peaceful resolution, the FIA also engaged organisations for attorneys.
