On Saturday, newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz said that the election was rigged by former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
Speaking in the Punjab Assembly after being elected Punjab Chief Minister, he emphasised that the nation has been under stress over the last two weeks and that elections will be held in line with the constitution and the law. He said that the attorney general of Punjab told the Supreme Court that the session to elect the new CM will take place on April 6, but that on that day, the assembly doors were sealed and the deputy speaker’s powers were restored.
