6.0-magnitude earthquake jolts portions of Pakistan and Islamabad

ISLAMABAD. On Sunday morning, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook the nation’s capital as well as other areas of the nation.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, which is 223 km deep, was the source of the earthquake.

Around 10:52 am, tremors were reported throughout the nation in towns including Islamabad, Peshawar, Swat, Haripur, Malakand, Abbotabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Khanpur, Battagram, Muzaffarabad, Texlia, Pind Dadan Khan, Pasroor, and Chinab Nagar.

While chanting Kalima Tayyaba, people poured out of their homes and other buildings.

There have been no documented losses of life or property thus yet.

Afghanistan was also shaken by an earthquake of a 5.9 magnitude.According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was felt throughout Afghanistan as well as areas of India, including the nation’s capital New Delhi. The epicentre was located 40 km to the south-southeast of the Afghan town of Jurm.
