When the roof of their house in Chak 92/6R, Haroonabad, fell in the early hours of Saturday, a teenage girl died and her sister was critically injured.

The event occurred while the two girls were at home with three other members of their family, including their parents, who were bruised.

According to District Officer (Emergency) Rao Sharafat, the roof collapsed due to the house’s deteriorating condition, trapping 19-year-old Shagufta and 25-year-old Nimra beneath the wreckage.

Rescue 1122 crews raced to the scene, freeing the sisters from the rubble and transporting them to the Haroonabad Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where Shagufta was pronounced dead. Mr Sharafat said her sister Nimra, who was thought to be badly injured, was being treated at the hospital.
